Commission and pay out by Booking.com

I have been on Booking.com a shortish while. I changed format to Booking.com taking payment last month and  have just received a commission bill. Do I pay commission and then Booking.com pays the full amount paid by guests to me?

Hi there,

I hope things are going well on Booking.com? I'm finding it very useful for getting bookings.

I've found this link: Payments by Booking.com: Bank Transfer

Have you checked it out? As far as I can tell, they do a payout after taking their commission. By law they have to send you an invoice for it but they mark it as paid immediately. (Again, this is as far as I know. I'm still waiting for them to make it live in S.A).

Don't you want to please let us know once you know for sure?

Thanks!

Hi Guys

I moved from chasing money to EFT system for SA bookings in mid June. This month will be my first payment from Booking.com with them having collected payment on my behalf. So far I would say it has saved me loads of time and effort and has really been easy to use.

I received my invoice which clearly shows the revenue and commission due - it also states "Please be informed that this invoice may (partly) settled with your payout" - based on that I think it would be safe to say they will take commission prior to paying out revenue generated. Mine is due on 16/08 so if that is not correct I will revert.

Have a good day!

I have now received a remittance advice which shows the full amount collected, so I now assume that you pay the commission and receive a full amount payment without any deductions. I have not yet received any monies into my account so still in the "not sure" space.

Ah clarity finally. :-) I have received payment from Booking.com. So, B.com pays the full amount LESS the commission.

Hi Mate,

Hope you are well.

I have received my first Payout from Booking.com. And the amount I received is after deducting the commission amount. However, I can see an invoice to pay the commission again. What shall I do?

Thanks Spitskop !

Sorry Pat , I need to ask. I just read your post again. Are you based in South Africa and you have the Payments by Booking.com activated?

THope to hear from you again!

Hi Leandri

Yes I am in South Africa and yes I activated the payment link. I have since received payment and Booking.com simply sent me the normal invoice and statement. They then took the commission due off the amount that was due to me and paid me the difference into my bank account. The hardest part was simply reconciling the commission and payments for period prior to moving to the EFT option. I think from hereon in it will be a breeze.

With a surname like Klopper you are clearly from SA - where are you based? Can I be of any further assistance?

Kind regards

Pat

Hello again Pat ,

Ah Fantastic, thanks for the reply!

So now I know that it might just be that it's not in my Area or maybe our properties must first prove themselvs?

Yes, haha Klopper does quite give it away doesn't it? I'm in the Pretoria area, Jakaranda Stad, but our properties we have listed here is in Mpumalanga, Sedgefield and Margate. We have one in Gauteng, but it's still finding its feet on Booking.com.

I see you are in Clarence, what a stunning place to live! Can I ask, do you think you got the option for Payments by Booking.com because of your Location or is it because your property is doing really well on their platform?

I so appreciate your help. Thanks so much.

Hope to hear from you again soon!

Hi Leandri,

Gosh don't know how you manage properties long distance - take my hat off to you! Any marketing tips would be greatly appreciated as we only started in April this year and are also still finding our way around. Most people are less that willing to share their tips.

If you sign in to your dashboard you should see a finance tab - on that there is a section saying getting paid. I activated it there. If you can't do that, I suggest sending them an email from within your dashboard. They are EXTREMELY helpful and quick to respond or alternatively you can call their SA support team.

Hope this helps.

Hello again!

Thanks but I wish I had more of a hands-on role to play like you do. Hats off to you and other owners who get the physically deal with the guests! I'm more on the Reservations side of things. I read the stories from our partners on the forum where they share their experience with the guests and it sounds like a Way of life I could be keen on.

Sure!, I've found Word of Mouth is your strongest tool. If someone has a great time at your place, give them the tools with which to Spread the word. Provide them with a brochure/card containing your social media site addresses and ask them if they want to be put on a mailing list for any specials. (Asking is Important though... Booking.com rules ...). Then run Referal campaigns where if they refer friends they can win free nights/similiar. That doesn't sound like much of advse but it works! And... it is free to do in a sense. It spreads like wildfire!

There are some grand ideas on this thread: How do you market your accommodation? Where do you advertise? If you want to have a look at it.

I truelly love Booking.com's support team. I actually look forward to phoning them every time!

Thanks for the help Pat, but it seems it's not on my Finance tab. I just have the Online Payments option extra. So I have sent a Super Friendly message to our team to ask them if they might want to consider us for the payments by Booking.com option. I think the property is doing well enough that they will activate it for me.

Have a super weekend!

Hi Asyikin,

If you have just started bookings and all bookings are done via the EFT system, booking.com will send you an invoice and statement showing how they calculate their fees. The commission would then be deducted by them from any amounts guests have paid directly to booking.com. Please note that this is for EFT system and assumes you have not collected any monies yourself but only worked with them as your partner.

Following the directions or guidelines, looking for the solutions here first. This whole thread seems to be 8-9 months old.Leandri, thanks for all your comments and support too. Are you a moderator and do you and M Adamopoulou have better access to the staff? I notice very many interesting things and comments and then see that this is OUR forum right? But booking.com has some rules and control, as I quickly read it. FAST AND CORRECT ANSWERS are what we want in today's world, correct? So there is CONSTANT changes and errors on all sides, can we agree? How to handle? So obviously from the comments there are COUNTRY issues involved in many ways? We have an UNPAID INVOICE but also many issues with the site and app, trying to get a SIMPLE ACCOUNTING and not having any luck? So updating this SPACE and hoping for help and will reach out again, but we are a multinational couple and that presents issues around the world and I am seeing some possible bias and discrimination versus attitudes and expereinces and business choices.......so I must admit I am a bit confused, so posting a reply and seeking help and advice and next looking for my prior posts. I get a WHOLE BUNCH OF EMAILS as I try to learn from the BEST...... M Adamopoulou you are great and nice but wondering how to be more efficient of our end as this is more of a hobby than a business at this point for sure.

Hi stevew407,

You don't say where you are from or what the issue is with an unpaid invoice.

I will answer from my experience and perhaps this will help.

I'm in SA and when I have had issue in past I immediately use the dispute invoice tab. They normally resolve issue within 48hrs. If client does not show or does anything wrong like early departure or damage, it is best to immediately use tabs to report that as well.

Following those steps will help you to avoid disputes and get paid.

Hope this helps.

Good luck,

Pat
