Hello,

I am trying to set up a policy where 50% of the total booking will be taken as a prepayment.

Can you please explain how to do this

Thank you

Heya,

Thanks for asking.

Go to your extranet -> Property -> Policies.

There you will be able to add a Prepayment policy, way at the top, which you can set according to your own needs. Mine states that a prepayment of the total price may be charged at any time. So whether I take 50% or the full amount, the guest is aware they will pay in full before they arrive.

Hope this helps!

Hey Apsonshotel ,

You can follow the same advise I gave in the above message. If you struggle with a specific step, then feel free to ask :-)

Hi Leandri Klopper,

I already look on Cancellations and Prepayment. I choose on cancellations with Firm which is the guest can cancel free of charge until 30 days before arrival. The guest will be charged the total price if they cancel in the 30 days before arrival.

But on Prepayment, i set charge guests after they book thru bank transfer and if cancel will be refund in 7 days. But no option for 50% deposit. I would like to set for 50%, not full payment.

How to set this?

Thank you

Hi,

This thread is old but I hope you see this! We started renting 3 months ago and our policy on prepayment is full amount anytime before arrival. However, because we only have bank transfer as a prepayment option, we thought guests would not want to go through the hassle and that would increase cancellation, so we never asked for prepayment. My question is, from your experience (or anyone else reading), did you have a negative feedback from asking prepayment via bank transfer? Did it affect your cancellation rate?

Thank you so much!

Hey Adithra85 ,

Sjoe I'm struggling to find it now, I know I saw it under Policies.

Well, I've just got the prepayment option on total amount (Eg. Guest can be charged a prepayment of the total price at any time after free cancellation ends), and then I just send the guest a payment schedule asking for X amount deposit.

Also, we have a much more strict cancellation policy. The guest has 4 hours after making the booking to cancel it for free, after that they are liable for the full payment. I'm nice about it though, the clients still ask for cancellations which I then accept and wave fees (+commission). I have my own policy which I adhere to, if the booking is within 30 days, I also decline any cancellation requests. But we have a massive property (160+ chalets) so it's not such a struggle on my side.

Hope this helps, sorry it seems to have disappeared!

Hi Leandri Klopper,

Somehow i manage it, i found on policies page and below summary there is bulb icon to looking for more options? See our full list of cancellation options here..

Set up it but not really what i want (at lease my boss said ok with that policies).

  • The guest can cancel free of charge until 30 days before arrival. The guest will be charged 50% of the total price if they cancel in the 30 days before arrival.
  • The guest will be charged a prepayment of 50% of the total price after reservation. You can collect this prepayment from the guest anytime after the reservation is made.

Thank you so much for the help to a newbie like me. LOL i am not sure what is the next step after this, still learning

Hiya,

Oh wow, I'm glad you found it! Perhaps I need new glasses.

Big pleasure hun, just breath. It's a STEEP learning curve but it's so worth it. Warning... remember you are now working on an Instant confirm model. Every booking coming through Booking.com needs to be honored. So make sure you understand how to use that to your advantage, and you will be fine.

Best of luck!
