Fake gradings by other local hotels and Booking.com ignores !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its difficult when other local hotels give themselves fake gradings that are better than your official one !!

In the UK you can either self-assess your property or be "officially" inspected by a Visit England (and others)  Assessor ,the latter will require membership to VE etc, and a yearly inspection when EVERYTHING is checked including your public liability insurance that again costs money

So over 75% of places in the UK self assess as it can save £1000's

BUT HOW DO THEU KNOW HOW MANY STARS TO GIVE THEMSELVES ????????????????- UNLESS YOU ARE AN iNSPECTOR AT BEST ITS AN OPINION AND NOT FACT

In our area suddenly,a number of places have upped their grading to 5 Stars- some of these had been official 3 stars but left VE and suddenly on Booking.com BECAME 5 STAR RATED !!!!!!

Since this happened-we have an officical  s star rating-our bookings have gone down and the fake 5* hotels nearby are getting more bookings

Nothing wrong with self assessing yourself-whatever rating you give yourself - BUT WHY DOES BOOKING.COM ALLOW MISLEADING FAKE RATINGS ??????….. commission -money-- money--money...……..

I must admit to not knowing BDC's policy on this but I do know some of the other OTAs grade hotels on their facilities/amenities.

Most call us a 3-star so we go with that. One, however, gives us 4 stars which I strongly disagree with.

In this country, at least, Hotels may give themselves as many stars as they like on their own site.

In your case it could be the old expression, if you can't beat them, join them. That way you level the playing field. Just be sure you are actually offering at least the same levels of facilities and comfort as your local competition.

Thanks for your reply but it’s not a matter of us joining them as we are the ones with 5 stars and they are giving themselves a fake 5 star rating and taking bookings away from us
Booking. Com are ignoring my request to investigate this
