Hello Moira,
I can completely relate what you are saying. My guesthouse is also very close to the beach. Where I spend a small fortune on good quality towels with a certain cotton count in them. Recently I've noticed that when guests use them to head to the beach for example, it sometime happens something on the beach creates marks on the white towels which can never be washed out, not to sure what it is, but it appears to leave a very light brow stain of some sort.
So as a result, I have decided to include Beige towels to my rooms as this eliminates loss of very good towels.
Hello there,
I did this last year at my guesthouse where I had received a few complaints about the fact that I took the initiative of placing Easter decorations and so forth here and there around the property for that of the Easter occasion, and found many had not enjoyed the idea as they said Easter is only specific to certain nations and religions.
So after that I figured I won't be doing that again.
I feel that not getting paid for no shows is absurd. Firstly it violates and goes against business operations and what we as hosts are trying to achieve, and furthermore diminishes the ability of getting an actual paying booking to come in, where further resulting in 2 loss of incomes essentially.
I feel that more measure should be implemented in this avenue.
Just my thought
Thank you very much Michael Beeston, Kibokoafrica and M Adamopoulou.
Jeepers I am so glad that I read this.
Because I too receive a ton of bookings, where at the time I would believe this particular booking to be true and real.
Then, come time just before the reservation is due, it turns into a cancellation where the reply from the guest always seems so vague and not quite directed to reasoning.
For me, this costs me money as now we have a fake guest which has booked potential dates which are not real essentially, where as a legit booking could not be booked due to others taking it's spot.
This drives me dilly indeed.
Oh I agree, this area needs some attention most desperately.
On many occasions I have guests who'd confirm there arrival time, but arrive about 3 or so hours after the initial time mentioned. Doesn't happen to often but we have the odd one or two
I imagine there would be some difficult guests indeed as it comes with the line of hospitality.
I myself have not had a difficult one as yet, (touch wood) but should one come about, one just needs to understand that it takes all types to make the world go about, and therefore you would be required to manage and handle the situation as best as you possibly can given the nature of that situation.
