Happy posting!
I don't personally entertain my guest. I do put information in there rooms letting them know what's going on in town and what restaurants are close by.
I leave brochues, maps and various literature in the room, there is radio and TV in the room, and I am always available to answer questions, give directions and answer queries.
Our bed-and-breakfast certainly does provide suggestions for quality restaurants. We have multiple wineries and galleries. But the real fun stuff is that we have a wraparound porch and at the end of a long day for the guests we offer them a glass of wine and that’s where all the chatting begins. People remember that long after many other tourist type events
We provide verbally to our guests on check in with information about local restaurants and activities on. This is supplemented by information in the room and available at reception. Most morning us and our staff chat to guests to work out what they have planned for the day or where going next this allows us to give them some helpful information for their day ahead. We have a guest lounge as well so we have guests relax with us in front of the fire in winter or relaxing on the sunny lounge.
I provide information about little cafes and restaurants that are only a walk away before they get here.
I try and meet many of my guests and find out their interests.
I have put a few fun games and cards on a little table and chair for children to keep them entertained.
Each month I collect the latest to do do booklets and provide in the foyer of our property to alert guests what is the latest shows or free entertainment for families at South Bank.
I do not personally entertain my guests, for I am sure that in today’s time of electronics and informations, they plan every minute of their vacation days. I do provide them with current brochures and informations from my town Tourist Byro and give them basic infos.
?? A cute thing that I enjoy doing for my guests is to provide them almost daily with a plate of fresh fruit. It is a sufprise for them and there we start friendly conversation, sometime taking photos with each other. The best is when we serve to them one home made barbecue dinner during their stay, (not for two days stays) with bottle of wine, all free. I enjoy them being all smiles and happy. Mary B.
I like the idea of fruit. We have planted a few and are planning to share this. We also manufacture honey on site and serve this with breakfast for guests. Then we have lovely discussions about raw honey and some even buy whats on sale.
My husband has lots of funny stories to tell from his adventures in the area and we often find something in common to talk about with our guests.

We have TVs, free wifi and lots of books. The best entertainment happens during breakfast where we chat and share stories. We sometimes play games with our guests. I also have a bowl of snacks available all the time.
Great comments.................Fully agree.
We've played card games a couple of times with our guests initiated by them. It was so much fun. It's hard to know if they are interested in hanging out with us sometimes. We do have board games available. I wish I could play an instrument like the guitar by the fire.
We have a lot of enjoyment with our guests. Of course you have to read whether they want engagement or just venture on their own. Those who are engaging, curious or just outright social are alway invited to join us on the porch which is the talk of our town. Right down town so it attracts neighbours and freinds. Including the guest makes them feel right at home with the home, the town and the neighbours. Of course we always enjoy our label of wine (or beer) at know cost.
We have been known to take a stroll with the guests to point out some of the gardens and attractions within walking distance of the B&B.
To Info, I think the guitar idea is great. Get one and someone may be inspired to play it and these days you can learn the basics online.
