Question of the week: Which guests visit your property the most during peak season?

Hi everyone,

With peak season fast approaching for many of you, we’re interested to know which demographic of guests you get the most during this busy time.

Is it mostly loved-up couples arriving at your property? Maybe you get families during the school holidays? Or do solo travellers with big backpacks usually turn up at your front door?

From lighting candles for the couples to getting jet skis ready for the teenagers, we’d also love to know how you accommodate for different demographics. Or is it business as usual no matter who the guest is?

As always, post your thoughts in the comments below. And with busier months on the horizon, we look forward to winning peak season together!

Thanks for your comments Bramadv and M Adamopoulou,

Do you usually get special requests from families? Do you suggest activities for children?

Hi! Ilaria, we usually don’t have any requests for children. We don’t have to suggest any activities for children because families come to our Studio because the beach is very near to us and they love swimming...
Cheers!!!

Couples, either to explore the area or to walk the Welsh Coastal Path, we are fortunate to live in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and as there aren't many B & B's in the area we enjoy a busy season. Winter here is another story.....

Hi all Partners, our establishment is a few steps from the beach. Summer time families love to book - a beach holiday is always a winner ! Winter time retired couples love to book. Discounted rates are a draw card. They love to sit on the balconies and watch the waves rolling in. Knee blankets keep them cosy on the balconies.

Usually both families and couples .... with the occasional person travelling alone. We have apartments that cater for all three.

Most of the times, 99%, i receive couples and mostly from Germany during August to November! In the months January to June, i receive a lot of couples traveling together! Great fun with all my guests!

I only have 2 rooms, more of a boutique lodge, but it is enough for me!

I am new on this site and looking for ways to attract more bookings. We are about a ten minute walk from the beach, it is great for bird watching and quite some books to read. The staff is friendly and the dogs are very docile and make good companions for walks around the area. The place (Watamu) is a lovely small coastal town with plenty of things to do and keep busy. It isn't an expensive town so food and drinks will not set you back much. It's a very friendly town and very welcoming in nature. My husband and/or I are always available should one have questions and queries.

We have visitors from all over the world, as well as within New Zealand at our B & B ......singles, couples, families and pets : ) Some are passing through, some are here for events, some have come to explore our beautiful rugged coast line and resident Volcano "Mt, Taranaki" which can be seen from our Kitchen Window, and couple of guest bedrooms and our Garden. We are 10 mins away by car from our local beach which is very unspoilt - black sand and rolling waves with a back drop of cliffs where you can see fossilised sea shells that were on the sea floor thousands of years ago. It has wonderful energy and clean air!!

I just love being a host and meeting such incredibly lovely people.....it makes all the hard work worthwhile!!

Hi there,

We have mainly (mainland) europeans during the season. In Scotland we get Germans, French, Dutch and some British guests. The odd American or Canadian and some Australians.

We don't get many families in Scotland and when we do it is more the older generations than the younger ones.

Best regards from Pitlochry, Scotland

Hello! Torrdarach we mostly have Europeans but last April we had a fantastic couple from Scotland from Inverness and Edinburgh. They spend almost 8-9 months in Greece and only 3 months in Scotland.
Have a nice weekend.

My clients are almost exclusively visitors to Disneyland, as we are 10 minutes drive away. I imagined lots of families when I started out, but surprisingly, it tends to be couples. I'm always amazed how Disney attracts people of all ages. Most of my guests are from Holland, Germany and the UK, although the Brexit uncertainty made a big dent in bookings from the UK this spring.

@Cassandra, well to atract more bookings, I would defenitly redo your place and at least get rid off more then half the stuff. It doesn't really look appealing.

Hello Cassandra, what a beautiful part of the world you live at. I did not know where Watamu is....so I Googled and see that you are on the coast of Kenya. Your place is right on a stunning white sand beach, it so unspoilt...... reminds me of holiday batches here in NZ....which are sadly disappearing. Your property looks very geared up for fishing and beach activities, very practical. what an awesome spot...absolutely stunning coast.

I wish you all the very best with your new venture.
