Commission payment, GST and payment method in India

Hi, I'm new here and have just received my first few bookings. I understand that my country India does not have the automatic payout service from Booking.com yet; i.e. I will receive payments directly from the guest in cash. Anybody else here from India to confirm my understanding? If this be so, then how will I pay the commission (after invoices are received) to booking.com?

I mean, I want to know if the bank transfer to booking.com will be to an account within India (to their Mumbai office) or outside the country? I hope I won't have to pay more than what the commission is simply due to the rate of exchange applied for transferring funds outside the country.

Also, I have noticed that not all of my bookings have been charged a GST amount, few have. Why is that so? And since GST is charged to me, but not collected from the guest, does that mean I will have to pay commission + GST to booking.com?

Somebody, please help answer.

Thanks!

You'll pay the commission amount to BDC bank account located in Netherland (I beleive). You'll receive the invoice from BDC.
The extra costs are based of your local bank policies and laws.
Regarding the GST I don't know.. better you contact Booking.com support via extranet or your account manager (if you have one).

Hi Angisagi,

I'm also new and got my first booking last month. I received 2 invoices from bdc. One was for the commission and the other for GST. The commission invoice gives you the bank details in India for you to make payments. So please check your invoice. Hope this helps.

Hi Anjisagi.,

Wanted to check if you have been able to figure out the GST process? Do you collect it from guests? If yes, what if they ask for a GST invoice?

Regards,

Neeru

Hi Neeru, so this is what I did- I just show guests the summary on my app that mentions the total amount. Most times guests willingly pay after seeing it, some pay after explaining, but some don't wat to pay or understand, and that is still a problem unfortunately.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for your response. Unfortunately, this is my first booking and the guest is asking me for a GST invoice. Since I dont have any means to provide any such invoice, he doesnt want to pay the GST which i am still ok with. I just want to be sure whether booking.com will ask me to pay GST to them? Because it will mean i pay from my own pocket.

Thanks in advance

Yes, I'm afraid, it goes from our pocket. So always try to include it in your price that you charge them. And this was recommended to me by booking.com too once

HI

Any one not earning ( annual income) less than Rupees Twenty Lakhs is not liable to pay GST in India,.

Booking.com is not a E_commerce partner as per GST rules and are not supposed to issue GST invoices to its partners..As booking.com (India) is not charging our guests and making any payments to its partners , booking.com, does not fall under the definition of an E-commerce operator and are not to charge GST, as per the definition:

I have been in correspondence with Booking, com withe these issues and so far not suceeded.and I am still trying.

Here is the instruction of government of India regarding E _ commerce operators.

.Read the paragraph "Who are e-Commerce operators and participants?"

https://cleartax.in/s/section-194o

Who is liable to pay GST?

Hello,

I am a new host here. I got my first booking. I would like to understand more on the breakdown. For eg. if there is 1) Room Charge = 1800rs. 2) Commission = 270rs. 3) GST = 216rs.

What amount should I collect from the guest?

Can someone also explain me on this commission part that comes at the end of every month? Should I just pay Booking.com the commission amount ( 270rs) or pay both commission and GST amount, ie. 270+216 rs?

Thank you!

You need to collect 2016 INR from the guest(Room charge+GST) Commission will be deducted from your room charge so at the end your profit will be 1530INR(Room charge-Commission)
